The 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hits Japan is the strongest and the first in the country. It also created a 4 to 7 meters tsunami that devastated Sendai City and other provinces in Japan. As of this moment, there are already at least 300 confirmed casualties but authorities expects that the number could escalate to thousands when rescue and retrieval operations starts.
Authorities also issued Tsunami warnings to countries in the Pacific Region including the Philippines. According to PAGASA, the first wave already reach the country (19 provinces are in alert level 2) but the magnitude and height of the tsunami is not comparable to what happened in Japan. However, people in coastline areas are still advised to take precautionary measures and follow the orders of the authorities if they are required to evacuate.
Here are some of the videos of tsunami in Japan.
