Critics of President Cory Express Support for Her

Some of the critics or shall we say former enemies of President Aquino gave their support and prayers for the ill former president. Prominent people and politicians which includes former President Erap and Senator Gringo Honasan who led several coup attempts during her administration.

Health Status and Update of Former President Cory Aquino

The real health status of former President Cory Aquino is still withheld by the family members. Although they give some updates from time to time. Supporters and more Filipinos continue their prayer vigils to help the president recover from her health condition. We know that the cancer is already on its later stage when they diagnosed the President. Treatment is definitely very difficult on this case.

Let us hope that a miracle would happen so that the President Cory could recuperate from her ailment and live longer so that she could continue serving the Filipino people and continue to defend democracy.

Amnesty for Abu Sayyaf?

Some lawmakers are thinking of giving the ASG or Abu sayyaf Group amnesty to end the conflict and atrocities in Mindanao. This idea did not gained favorable support from other lawmakers and the public. We have to remember that the Abu sayyaf Group is a terrorist with links with JI. They already have so many criminal activities and providing them amnesty is actually accepting and tolerating their criminal acts.

They don't fight for any political issues or ideologies. They are there to kill, extort, sow terror in Mindanao. They make a living from kidnapping so giving them amnesty is an absurd idea.

They just released Red Cross Personnel Vagni. There are speculations that ransom was paid for his release. The question is how much?

Now giving them amnesty is another question that we should ask our lawmakers. Why? Is it for political interest? Maybe. Election is coming up.

Smartmatic-TIM Breakup Will Jeopardize 2010 Elections

Today is the deadline given by the Commission on Election to the winning bidder for the 2010 national elections to settle their differences. The consortium was having some problems with regards to who will have control of the majority of the operations.

According to some sources inside the consortium, it is not about the half billion pesos being asked allegedly by TIM owner Antunez but it is about management conflict. TIM wants to control the partnership.

This issue alarms some of the lawmakers since TIM has ties with the first family. There could be some manipulation on the result of the election even if it is computerized. The planned backing out of the TIM from the consortium was seen by some as a move to derail the computerization of the 2010 elections. That would mean we will go back to manual voting and counting which is prone to cheating. Others accused the administration of having a hand in this latest issue.

As of this moment, most of the news coming out from the media are still considered speculation since the consortium is not divulging the actual problem between the partners. We just hope that this will be settled and of course they are already obliged to fulfill their obligation as the winning bidder. Failure to provide the services under the bid would mean a breach of contract. They could face legal problems.

update:

Smartmatic and TIM met at the Comelec yesterday and they announced that the consortium will proceed with the automation of the next election.
