Robinsons Galleria Robbery: Another Question on Mall Security Measures

Robinsons Galleria Ortigas Mall Robbery
Two suspects forcibly enters the Robinsons Galleria Mall in Ortigas at around 10 to 10:30 am. The robbers targeted roving tellers of a bank (Security Bank) who are supposed to deliver money to Sanry's Money Exchange located at the first floor.

There were at least 5 people injured in the incident. The suspects fired at the victims and used two grenades as a shield when they fled using a motorcycle. Police also reported that some of the victims were held at gun point as evidenced by several empty shells of a caliber .45 recovered at the crime scene.

Two bystanders were injured during the blast. A security guard was also wounded in the shootout and two others were also injured. Reports revealed that a mall employee and a call center agent were among those injured in the robbery.

The authorities said that the suspects were able to nabbed unspecified amount of money. Investigation on the incident is still on going.

Robinsons Land issued a statement regarding the incident: "Atleast 2 armed men tried to rob the roving tellers of Security Bank in Quezon City at around 10 a.m. today. Police authorities responded to the alarm, which is part of the mall security setup, within 15 minutes."

However, witnesses told the media that the shootout lasted for several minutes. The suspects fought with security guards and the mall security but they were still able to flee using a motorcycle as a get away vehicle. Many are wondering why the robbers escaped the alleged tight security of the mall and its proximity to police stations. Is this the tight mall security that is being implemented by Robinsons Galleria?

Meanwhile, the mall continued its operation after two hours.
