Erap-Binay Puts New Coalition for 2013 Election, United Nationalist Alliance

United Nationalists Alliance (UNA Coalition)
Here's the updated list of Senatoriables for the 2013 Elections both for LP and UNA:
LP Coalition and UNA Senatorial Candidates

Senator Koko Pimentel confirmed to the media that the two established political parties in the Philippines decided to unite for the 2013 Senatorial Elections. The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) signed an agreement with the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP). PDP-Laban is headed by Vice-President Jejomar Binay while PMP is the party of former President Joseph Estrada.

Political analysts says that the coalition is not a threat to the Liberal Party headed by President Noynoy Aquino. Sources said that PDP-Laban had already made some talks with the Liberal Party but it would be difficult to get the support of all its members. They decided to look for other parties willing to create a coalition for the 2013 Senatorial elections.

The coalition between PDP-Laban and PMP is not surprising since the two parties already helped each other in previous elections. They fought the previous administration by putting United Opposition or UNO. According to Senator Pimentel, the new coalition will be called United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

The party's nominees for the 2013 National Senatorial elections is already complete and in fact, more than 12 Senatoriables are already willing to run under their banner. "The coalition ticket, under the Binay umbrella, is already overflowing, meaning it has more than 12 names on the list. That means the Vice President has to choose and trim the list down," said Sen Pimentel.

Some of the candidates for 2013 are Joey de Venecia III, Cagayan Rep. Juan Ponce Enrile Jr., re-electionist senators Francis Escudero, Loren Legarda, Gregorio Honasan, Koko Pimentel, and Alan Peter Cayetano. The nominees from the PMP has yet to be named.

Meanwhile, VP Binay is open to the possibility of accepting former Senator Miguel Zubiri in the coalition. But this is opposed by Koko Pimentel. Former Senator Zubiri resigned from the Senate after he lost from the recount and the alleged election anomalies in Mindanao benefited him.

We will update this post when the new list of Senators for 2013 is announced by the United Nationalists Alliance.

UPDATE:
UNA Spokesman JV Bautista confirmed, 3 more candidates from PMP. They are:
1. former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri
2. congresswoman Mitos Magsaysay
3.Cebu governor Gwendolyn Garcia
